Summary
Maintenance Mechanic position is vital to ensuring the optimal operation of our farming and processing facilities. Located in McAllen, TX, this role supports our mission of sustainable agriculture and quality production by maintaining and repairing essential mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
- Assign, prioritize, and monitor work orders to ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical problems in agricultural and food processing equipment (e.g., conveyors, motors, packing lines).
- Ensure proper use of tools, safety procedures, and adherence to maintenance standards.
- Communicate with production and operations teams to plan maintenance around production schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and request orders when necessary.
- Maintain detailed maintenance records, work order documentation, and performance reports.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and functionality of machinery.
- Support installation of new equipment and assist in layout and setup within the facility.
- Enforce cleanliness, organization, and safety within the workshop area.
- Report to Maintenance Manager or Plant Operations Manager with updates on equipment status and team performance.
Qualifications
A Maintenance Mechanic should possess:
- Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical failures and guiding others in repair procedures.
- Ability to read technical manuals, equipment schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Basic computer skills (for work order systems, spreadsheets, and email).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Physical ability to perform mechanical tasks and work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Forklift and equipment handling certification is a plus.
