Position Summary Phlebotomists perform diagnostic imaging and testing to support physicians in diagnosing and monitoring retinal disease. This role is well-suited to candidates with phlebotomy experience who are looking to grow their careers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ophthalmic imaging and diagnostic testing, which may include OCT, Optos, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, visual fields, B-scans, and other imaging systems
- Prepare and position patients for imaging and testing in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic setting
- Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and upload of images into the EMR
- Support smooth patient flow by coordinating imaging schedules with technicians and physicians
- Maintain imaging equipment and report any technical issues promptly
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and ensure comfort during testing
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines at all time
Qualifications
- Candidates with phlebotomy or other hands-on clinical experience (e.g., patient prep, assisting with injections, clinical documentation) are desired.
- Prior experience in ophthalmic photography/imaging is preferred.
- Familiarity with imaging equipment such as OCT, Optos, fundus cameras, or similar systems a plus.
- Certifications such as COA, COT, COMT, or CRA welcomed but not required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic environment
- Strong attention to detail and patient interaction skills
- Dependable, coachable, and adaptable
Schedule & Travel
- Typical schedule is Monday–Friday; busiest clinic days are generally Monday–Wednesday, with start times around 7:00–7:30 AM and occasional late end times
- Occasional overtime, PRN/part-time coverage, or quarterly Saturday clinics may be available/required (Saturday clinics include additional pay)
