Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic K-2 Teacher to join our team at North River Charter. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the early educational experiences of young learners, utilizing a dynamic curriculum and engaging teaching methods. The ideal candidate will be committed to nurturing children's development, fostering a love for learning, and creating a positive classroom atmosphere.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Create an engaging classroom environment that promotes curiosity, exploration, and active participation among students.
- Incorporate diverse teaching strategies such as curriculum development, learning technology integration, and Montessori methods to meet varied learning needs.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and classroom management skills.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and standardized testing; provide individualized tutoring and support as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and specialists to support children with special education needs or those requiring early intervention services.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and developmental milestones; ensure clear communication with families about student progress.
Experience
- Prior classroom experience working with children in grades K-2 or early childhood settings.
- Demonstrated ability in lesson planning, curriculum development, and literacy education.
- Experience with teaching physical education, math, writing skills, and library services is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies and classroom management best practices.
- Familiarity with special education processes, working with children with autism or other developmental needs is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
