The Communication Manager is a vital bridge between the Sawmill Community Land Trust (SCLT) and the diverse stakeholders that make our mission possible. This role requires a blend of interpersonal diplomacy, digital savvy, and storytelling to ensure our residents, board members, and partners remain engaged and informed.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for direct communications with apartment residents, homeowners, and community partners.
- Facilitate clear, transparent information flow between the Board of Directors and the community.
- Address resident inquiries and concerns with empathy and professional clarity.
Multi-Channel Content Management
- Newsletter: Lead the end-to-end production of the community newsletter, gathering stories, updates, and resources relevant to land trust members.
- Website: Maintain and update the SCLT website to ensure all information, resources, and news are current and accessible.
- Social Media: (Optional/As needed) Manage our digital presence to highlight community successes and milestones.
Partnership Development & Growth
- Identify and initiate contact with prospective partners—including local businesses, non-profits, and government entities—to expand SCLT’s network.
- Create compelling pitch materials and presentations to showcase the impact of the Land Trust to potential collaborators.
Qualifications & Skills
- Exceptional Communication: Ability to seamlessly switch tone between a formal board report and a warm, friendly resident update.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp).
- Community-Centric Mindset: A deep understanding of—or a strong willingness to learn about—the Community Land Trust model and a genuine passion for affordable housing.
- Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively, balancing long-term projects like monthly newsletters with real-time website updates.
