Responsibilities
- Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders, sharing personal recovery experiences to motivate clients.
- Assist clients in developing recovery goals, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques and harm reduction strategies to promote positive change.
- Engage in crisis management and crisis intervention efforts, ensuring safety and connecting clients with appropriate emergency or clinical services when needed.
- Facilitate group activities, educational sessions, and peer support groups that foster community connection and resilience.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions within electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting confidentiality protocols.
- Advocate for clients’ needs by connecting them with community resources, housing, employment services, and healthcare providers.
- Work effectively with culturally diverse communities by demonstrating sensitivity, respect, and understanding of different backgrounds and experiences.
Requirements
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an accredited organization is required; additional training in behavioral health or addiction counseling is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders in a supportive role.
- Strong skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support techniques.
- Knowledge of social work principles, harm reduction approaches, motivational interviewing, and client communication strategies.
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
- Excellent mentoring skills with a compassionate attitude that inspires hope and resilience in others.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
