Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake processes, including recording vital signs, medical histories, and current medications.
- Support clinical staff with procedures such as phlebotomy, X-ray preparation, and basic laboratory tasks.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient information and medical records.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure clinical areas are organized and ready for patient visits.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, guiding patients through procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Support hospital medicine or outpatient clinics by assisting with medication administration under supervision and monitoring patient responses.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in various specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or surgical units to gain broad clinical exposure.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or having completed a pre-health undergraduate program or similar educational pathway.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in medicine or healthcare with a focus on patient care and clinical support roles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding.
- Experience working in medical office settings or hospital environments preferred; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain prior to program start.
- Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient service.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Prior experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, outpatient clinics, or inpatient settings such as PICU or trauma centers is advantageous but not required.
