Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage check-in and check-out processes using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily clinic flow
- Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle billing inquiries in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review medical documentation, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 codes, and care plans to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Manage electronic health records (EHR), maintain medical records confidentiality, and perform filing of patient documents
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; handle patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately
- Support clinical staff with intake procedures, data entry, and documentation review to facilitate seamless patient experiences
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a clinic setting
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; Eaglesoft experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, HIPAA compliance, and health information management
- Ability to perform medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT) accurately for billing and documentation purposes
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel; typing speed of at least 10 key digits per minute
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with medical terminology and clinical confidentiality policies is essential
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and compassion
