Engineering Assistant – Stormwater Section

The City of Bethlehem is seeking a qualified Engineering Assistant – Stormwater Section to support stormwater infrastructure projects and regulatory compliance activities within the Department of Public Works.
What You'll Do
- Assist Project Engineers with the preparation of construction plans and specifications
- Inspect stormwater construction projects and existing stormwater facilities
- Conduct site inspections for stormwater runoff compliance and investigate illicit discharges
- Record project progress and maintain inspection records
- Prepare reports, field documentation, and as-built drawings
- Assist with annual NPDES MS4 permit reporting requirements
- Provide assistance to residents, contractors, and others regarding stormwater permits and related services
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Coursework or training in Construction, Civil Engineering, or AutoCAD preferred
- Knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and material testing
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Experience with concrete, asphalt, and utility construction preferred
- Strong recordkeeping and communication skills
- Ability to work safely outdoors in varying weather and construction site conditions
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time, exempt position
- 75 hours bi-weekly
