Position Title: Nurse
Reports To: Clinical Coordinator
Location Assignment: LaGrange
Summary of the Job:
Contact with the client to monitor, evaluate, educate and/or carry out physician’s order. The Nurse should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.
Primary Responsibilities:

Provide nursing assessment to observe, monitor, educate and care for the physical, nutritional and psychological issues, problems or crises manifested in the course of the clients’ treatment.

Educating the client about medical, nutritional and other health issues related to the individual’s mental health or substance related issues.
-
Assess and monitor client’s medical and other health issues that are either directly related to the mental health or substance related disorder, or to the treatment of the disorder.

Educating the client’s family/caregiver about medical, nutritional and other health issues related to the individual’s mental health or substance related issues.

Educating the client’s family/caregiver on medications and potential medication side effects.
-
Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.

Provide training for self-administration of medication.
-
Maintain and utilize knowledge and skills regarding current research trends in best/evidence-based practices for psychiatric nursing and medication management.

Stay updated on all contracting and accrediting requirements.

Share information with the treatment team and be considered a part of the treatment team.

Provide the number of billable hours assigned to the position.

Ensure documentation meets requirements of Medicaid, DBHDD, and other CMO audits.

Utilize agency’s designated client services software for entering service notes and submitting billables in required timeframes.
Additional Responsibilities:
-
Communicate with and work in conjunction with agency doctor, physician or psychiatrist.

Assist with preparation of files for clinic days including receiving test results ordered by physician.
-
Assist the Clinician/Therapist in documenting for all billing requirements.
-
Contact insurance companies as necessary for prior authorization for medications prescribed by agency physician or psychiatrist.

Conduct brief medical screenings for new clients in residential program as scheduled.

Represent agency favorably at all times.

Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Education/Experience:
Registered Nurse within the scope of O.C.GA Practice Acts
-
Preferred Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in mental health
Necessary Skills:

Clinical assessment skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Understanding of public sector services and supports
-
Experience providing services under Georgia Medicaid guidelines(desirable)

Planning and time management skills
-
General computer knowledge
-
Adequate training or experience to demonstrate the possession of knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties and tasks assigned to this position
