SYSTEM OPERATOR INTERN
This is an intern position training to learn system operation duties for the Transmission System Operation Department of the Grand River Dam Authority.
Responsibilities and Duties

View the Operator In Training (OIT) program documentation that is required to become a System Operator Trainee

View and learn what NERC reliability standards are used for in System Operations

View the Transmission control area; voltages, frequencies, and transmission line loading by Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) computer

View system loads and creation of the next-day forecast and watch System Operators conduct contingency analysis to avoid exceeding system operating limits

View the restoration of service following an interruption through SCADA

View and monitor system alarms through SCADA, TSM-8000, and R-Comm systems

Special tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Skills

Current College student or High school diploma, preferably in an electrical field or engineering field.

Functional competency with personal computers; prefer experience with Excel and Word and must possess and demonstrate excellent writing and composition skills

The ability to work in a high stress environment
Work is performed primarily at the Kerr Energy Control Center near Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
