Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Wood Refinisher to join our upholstery and furniture restoration team. This position focuses on restoring, repairing, staining, sanding, and finishing wood furniture pieces to high-quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working with furniture, understands different wood types and finishes, and takes pride in detailed craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Sand, strip, stain, and refinish wood furniture pieces
- Repair scratches, dents, chips, and minor structural damage
- Match existing stain colors and finishes
- Apply sealers, lacquers, paints, oils, and protective coatings
- Prepare furniture pieces before upholstery installation
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Safely operate sanding and refinishing equipment
- Inspect finished products for quality control
- Work with upholstery staff to complete custom furniture projects on schedule
Qualifications
- Experience in wood refinishing, cabinetry, furniture restoration, or related trade preferred
- Knowledge of stains, paints, clear coats, and finishing techniques
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to lift and move furniture as needed
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Experience with custom furniture or upholstery shops
- Color matching experience
- Spray gun finishing experience
- Understanding of wood repair and touch-up techniques
