We are seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) to provide school-based occupational therapy services to approximately 18 students receiving special education services through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This contract position begins July 20 and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced, collaborative therapist who enjoys working in an educational setting and making a meaningful impact on students' functional and academic success.
Position Summary
The Contract Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) will provide evaluations, direct therapy services, consultation, and documentation in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and District of Columbia special education requirements. The therapist will collaborate closely with educators, families, and related service providers to support students' participation and success in the educational environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services to approximately 18 students in accordance with their IEPs.
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and prepare written evaluation reports.
- Develop measurable IEP goals and objectives related to occupational therapy services.
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation, including treatment notes, progress reports, and evaluation reports.
- Monitor student progress and adjust intervention strategies based on individual needs.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, school administrators, families, and other related service providers.
- Provide consultation regarding classroom accommodations, sensory supports, fine motor development, self-regulation, and adaptive strategies.
- Ensure services are delivered in compliance with District of Columbia regulations and professional standards of practice.
Qualifications
- Current Washington, DC Occupational Therapist license in good standing.
- NBCOT certification.
- Experience providing pediatric occupational therapy services in school-based or educational settings.
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education regulations.
- Experience conducting occupational therapy evaluations and writing comprehensive reports.
- Strong understanding of sensory processing, fine motor development, visual-motor integration, self-care skills, and school-based interventions.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong partnerships with school personnel and families.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, and other disabilities.
- Familiarity with District of Columbia special education processes and documentation requirements.
- Experience providing consultative services to teachers and educational teams.
Compensation
- $80 per direct occupational therapy session
- $500 per occupational therapy evaluation
