Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Paving Laborer to join our civil infrastructure team. In this role, you will be an essential part of outdoor construction projects focused on road construction, highway maintenance, and utility installations. Your energetic approach and attention to safety will ensure that paving operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities
- Assist with paving operations, including preparing surfaces, spreading asphalt, and finishing surfaces to project specifications
- Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, and dump trucks to support construction activities
- Conduct utility locating and assist with traffic control for work zones to ensure safety for workers and the public
- Use hand tools and power tools for tasks like compaction, grading, and minor repairs on-site
- Support highway maintenance efforts by performing manual handling tasks, heavy lifting, and equipment setup
- Follow safety protocols diligently, adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and site-specific safety guidelines
- Collaborate with team members on construction site activities, maintaining a clean and organized work environment
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction or road construction projects with knowledge of heavy equipment operation such as dozer, grader, loader, backhoe, and Caterpillar machinery
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely in outdoor environments
- Familiarity with traffic control procedures for work zones and safety protocol adherence
- Mechanical knowledge related to power tools, welding, utility locating, and basic maintenance of equipment
- Valid commercial truck driving license preferred; experience operating front loader trucks and dump trucks is a plus
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations applicable to commercial vehicle operation
- Prior experience working on civil infrastructure projects in outdoor settings with a focus on highway or road maintenance
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining safety standards at all times
