Overview
Join our dynamic transportation team as a Truck Dispatcher, where you'll be the vital link ensuring smooth and efficient freight operations. In this energetic role, you will coordinate the movement of trucks and freight, optimize routes using advanced transportation management systems, and communicate seamlessly with drivers, clients, and warehouse teams. Duties
- Assign and schedule shipments to drivers based on delivery priorities, driver availability, and route efficiency using transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations in real-time, ensuring timely deliveries and quick response to any issues.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, providing clear instructions, updates, and support throughout their routes.
- Coordinate shipping & receiving activities, including freight documentation, load planning, and ensuring proper handling of shipments in compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate data entry for dispatch logs, shipment statuses, and fleet management records using AS400 and other logistics software platforms such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Conduct analysis of transportation data to identify opportunities for route optimization, cost reduction, and improved supply chain efficiency.
- Collaborate with 3PL providers (third-party logistics) to streamline freight movements and enhance overall logistics performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment; familiarity with freight operations is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, transportation planning, and supply chain management principles.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine; experience with AS400 is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently.
- Strong analysis skills for evaluating routing options, delivery schedules, and fleet utilization.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and logistics software tools like Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
