About the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
ECE at Rutgers is home to world-class research programs in wireless networking, information theory, signal processing, machine learning, high-performance computing, computer vision, socially cognizant robotics, cyber-physical systems, nano/bio electronics, and cybersecurity and privacy. Faculty honors include membership in the National Academies, 13 IEEE Fellows, 1 AAAS Fellow, 1 NAI Fellow, 1 ACM Fellow, 16 NSF Career Awards, 2 DARPA Young Faculty Awards, 1 ONR Young Investigator Award, and 1 ARO Young Investigator Award.
Excellent facilities are available for collaborative research with local industry through the School’s nationally recognized centers, including the Wireless Information Network Laboratory (WINLAB), the Micro-nanofabrication and Characterization Facility, the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT), and the Rutgers Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (RAD) Collaboratory. There are also opportunities for collaboration with clinicians at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS). Despite a challenging funding environment marked by significant budget constraints, our department has demonstrated remarkable success and resilience in securing competitive research grants
