Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team. The BHT plays an essential role in providing direct support and supervision to individuals receiving treatment for mental health and substance use disorders.
In this hands-on position, you will work closely with our clinical, nursing, and medical teams to help maintain a safe, supportive, and structured treatment environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and emotional support to clients in accordance with facility policies and individualized treatment plans.
- Build professional, supportive relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries.
- Conduct routine client observations and safety checks and promptly communicate behavioral, emotional, or physical changes to appropriate staff.
- Assist with client admissions, discharges, transfers, and orientation to the program.
- Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
- Encourage client participation in treatment, recreational activities, educational programming, and other scheduled activities.
- Monitor and reinforce client adherence to program expectations, facility rules, treatment guidelines, and safety protocols.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral crises, medical emergencies, and other incidents using approved de-escalation and non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
- Maintain a safe, clean, structured, and therapeutic environment for clients and staff.
- Complete room checks, contraband searches, and other safety procedures in accordance with facility policies.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
- Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, including clinical, nursing, and medical staff.
- Accurately document client observations, behaviors, incidents, and other required information in a timely manner.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and organizational confidentiality requirements.
- Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support client care and facility operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful or crisis situations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Behavioral Health, or a related field.
- Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment, healthcare, or a related setting.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Crisis intervention training or certification, such as CPI, PMAB, or equivalent.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
