Position Summary:
Person can work from any of the following office locations: Baltimore, MD, Chantilly, VA, Richmond, VA or Altamonte Springs, FL offices
The Project Engineer is a mid-level post-sales engineering role responsible for independently managing engineering deliverables for mid to large-sized low-voltage systems projects. This position leads the preparation of technical documentation, submittal packages, and drawings while coordinating with project managers, field teams, and other engineering resources to ensure successful project execution. The Project Engineer II applies advanced technical knowledge to design and document systems in compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and company best practices.
Pay: $40/hr
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently develop and produce complete engineering documentation packages, including drawings, submittals, and equipment schedules.
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for assigned projects.
- Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, and other engineering resources to align design deliverables with installation schedules.
- Assist with change ordered and the value engineering of projects.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to field teams during installation and commissioning.
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain technical specifications and support.
- Identify and propose engineering solutions to resolve project challenges.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of engineering or coordination experience.
- Proficient in CAD and design tools.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage systems, including security, access control, fire alarm, AV, and related technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
