We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and experienced Supermarket Refrigeration / HVAC & General Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team.
This position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, and general building systems across multiple store locations. The successful candidate will help ensure our stores remain safe, efficient, and fully operational while providing excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial supermarket refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, ice machines, compressors, condensers, and related equipment.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, heating equipment, ventilation systems, boilers, and building automation controls.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls and equipment failures to restore store operations.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems using diagnostic tools, electrical meters, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Perform plumbing repairs related to refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Maintain and repair general building systems, including lighting, doors, shelving, ceilings, flooring, fixtures, and other facility components.
- Assist with store remodeling projects, equipment installations, and other maintenance-related projects as assigned.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, work orders, and equipment documentation.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with Company policies, OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and applicable building codes.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
- Communicate effectively with store management, vendors, and fellow maintenance team members regarding repairs, equipment status, and maintenance needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience servicing commercial refrigeration and/or HVAC equipment preferred.
- Experience with commercial supermarket refrigeration systems strongly preferred.
- General maintenance experience including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, electrical controls, and mechanical equipment.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within a specified time frame).
- Additional HVAC/R certifications or state licensing are a plus.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and specialty maintenance equipment.
- Basic computer skills for completing work orders and maintenance documentation.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
- Work from ladders, rooftops, lifts, and elevated work platforms.
- Work in confined spaces, mechanical rooms, and varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and damp areas.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, crawl, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to emergency service calls outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call schedules.
Working Conditions
This position regularly works in grocery store environments, equipment rooms, rooftops, loading docks, and outdoor locations. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, refrigerants, varying temperatures, and moderate noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $87,100.00 per year
