About the Position
Enchanted Explorers Daycare is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Kitchen & Facilities Staff member to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and daily operations of our daycare by preparing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and able to balance both kitchen and facility responsibilities in a fast-paced childcare setting while consistently maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to menus established by the Food Program Director.
- Portion meals appropriately for each age group in accordance with CACFP nutrition guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen by washing, sanitizing, and properly storing dishes, utensils, cookware, and serving equipment.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, and appliances on a daily basis.
- Properly receive, label, store, and rotate food items to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
- Monitor kitchen inventory, restock supplies, and notify management when additional items need to be ordered.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations.
Facility Maintenance
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, and sanitize classrooms, hallways, common areas, the cafeteria, staff lounge, kitchen, and other shared spaces.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste according to established procedures.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, and other frequently touched surfaces throughout the facility.
- Assist with laundry and other housekeeping duties as needed.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for children, families, and staff.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to management promptly.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food service, custodial, housekeeping, or similar role is preferred.
- Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper cleaning procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work efficiently within a structured daily routine.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a childcare environment and supporting the needs of young children and staff.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to successfully complete all required State of Michigan background checks.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying supplies.

Position Details
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (no nights or weekends)
- Pay: $14.00–$16.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Probationary Period: 60 days or less, based on performance
