Discovery Years in Vernon, NJ, is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and highly qualified Universal Preschool (UPK) Teacher partnering with the Vernon Township Department of Education for the 2026–2027 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-quality early childhood program committed to excellence, developmentally appropriate practice, and strong school-community partnerships.
Valid NJ P-3 Certification required
or
Certificate of Eligibility (CE) in P-3 required
Strong knowledge of early childhood development and NJ Preschool Teaching & Learning Standards
Experience working in a state-funded Universal Preschool program preferred
Experience with the Tools of the Mind curriculum is a significant plus
A proactive, engaging educator with strong classroom leadership
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic preschool environment
Mentoring experience or a willingness to support and guide support staff
A team player who values collaboration and professional growth
Ability to work in the Summer if requested (separate rate of pay for these hours)
Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons
Create a nurturing, structured, and language-rich classroom environment
Utilize assessment tools to monitor student growth and inform instruction
Collaborate with administration, support staff, and families
Maintain compliance with DOE and licensing requirements
Implement and fully understand the Tools of the Mind Curriculum
Salary- Based on a credential and a formal number of years teaching as a certified teacher
