Front Office Receptionist
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phone
- Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary
- Registers patients according to established protocols updating patient information as needed
- Assist patients in completing all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance
- Ensures patient information is accurate including billing information
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff
- Answers incoming calls and ensuring calls are documented and transferred as appropriate
- Schedules patient appointments
- Collects co-pays and payments
- Sets up new patients in the computer system
- Obtain external medical reports or records as needed
- Manage the inventory of necessary office supplies and coordinate reordering of supplies
- Ensures reception and waiting areas are keep clean and tidy
- Protects patient confidentiality, making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.
- Post daily clinic and laboratory charges within 48 hours of receipt.
- Reconcile Missing Charges by looking at the missing slips tracking report
- Process all credit card payments as received.
- Works with certified coder to resolve payer issues.
- Scans any EOBs into the payment remittance section of EMR
- Maintains the insurance plan list in the EMR
- Obtains precertification for procedures as needed.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
