Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Location: Staten Island, NY 10309
Pay: $18/hour
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
We are seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential or community-based setting. The DSP will provide hands-on support while promoting each individual's independence, safety, dignity, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation
- Support individuals with community activities, appointments, and recreational programs
- Help individuals work toward personal goals outlined in their service plans
- Administer medications as trained and authorized
- Monitor health, safety, and behavioral needs and report concerns to the appropriate supervisor
- Maintain accurate daily notes, incident reports, and required documentation
- Provide respectful, person-centered support while encouraging independence
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to complete required background checks and training
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on the assignment
