Bus Driver Duties and Responsibilities:
- The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
- Extensive contact with residents of a senior living community
- Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
- Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
- Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
- Keeping a record of each bus trip and the residents who attended
- Documenting the mileage and time for each bus trip
- Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, fluid levels, tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair
Bus Driver Qualifications and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
- Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
- Ability to find geographic locations
- Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
- Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 80 pounds
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
- Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
Full Time: 30 - 36 hours a week
