Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician/Groundskeeper is responsible for the daily maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the Town Park, Town Hall, and other Town-owned facilities as assigned. This position works independently under the direction of the Mayor and/or designated Council Member and is responsible for ensuring Town property is maintained in a safe, clean, and welcoming condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and inspect all park restrooms each morning and again prior to the end of each workday.
- Clean park shelters after each rental and prepare them for the next scheduled reservation. When shelters are not reserved, ensure they remain clean and presentable.
- Empty and clean trash receptacles throughout the park and Town facilities as needed.
- Clean and maintain shower facilities in the park trailer.
- Maintain all flower beds, landscaping, shrubs, and planted areas throughout the park and around Town Hall.
- Plant flowers, shrubs, and other landscaping as needed.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the park and Town-owned properties.
- Replace HVAC filters, light bulbs, and ceiling tiles in Town Hall as needed.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general upkeep of the Town Hall kitchen, restrooms, and common areas.
- Remove litter and debris from all park grounds, parking areas, sidewalks, and Town properties.
- Open and close sections of the park as necessary during maintenance, mowing, special events, or hazardous conditions to ensure public safety.
- Notify the Mayor or designated Council Member of repairs, maintenance projects, orpurchases beyond the scope of routine maintenance.
- Purchase routine maintenance supplies for park operations. Obtain approval from the designated Council Member or Mayor before purchasing tools, equipment, or non-routine items.
- Report maintenance concerns, equipment issues, safety hazards, vandalism, or other irregular conditions promptly to the Mayor or designated Council Member.
- Maintain records of work performed, materials used, equipment maintenance, inspections, and safety-related activities.
- Prepare and submit a monthly maintenance report for presentation to the Park Committee
- and Town Council.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs on Town-owned equipment as directed.
- Interact professionally and courteously with park visitors, residents, vendors, contractors, and
- the general public while representing the Town ofTroutville.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and accountability.
- Work Schedule
- Part-time position consisting of approximately 20 hours per week.
- Schedule may include weekends and holidays as necessary to accommodate park shelter rentals, Town
- events, maintenance needs, or emergency situations.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of general grounds maintenance and landscaping practices.
- Ability to safely operate lawn maintenance equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance repairs.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Town officials, coworkers, contractors, and the public.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and complete tasks independently.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
