Function: The substance use disorder nurse will provide direct mental health and SUD care. Within the framework of the objectives and policies established by the Medical Director, the LPN coordinates the efforts of the clinical and medical treatment team for the clients under his/her care. The LPN evaluates, plans, and provides care for patients in consultation with attending physicians and clinicians. Responsible for obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, administering prescribe medications and treatments as needed and reviewing tests and lab results. Communicates and coordinates with other medical and behavioral healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality patient care.

Responsibilities and Duties:
● Takes or reviews medical and drug history.
● Documentation in real time
● Completes accurate nursing assessments
● Able to handle 10-16 patients on the floor
● Ensure the comfort and care of all patients in the detoxification unit
● Obtains medical histories and performs physical examinations
● Analyzes the relationship between normal physiology and specific system alterations associated with mental health problems, psychiatric disorders, and treatment.
● Treat acute health problems such as infections and injuries especially those associated with addiction and chemical dependence
● Administers injections and other treatments as needed
● Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention
● Maintains reviews and updates patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
● Participation and compliance with quality assurance of all clinical program parameters and measures
● Demonstrates effective clinical interviewing skills that facilitate development of a therapeutic relationship
● Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the medical provider
● Knowledge of chemical dependency and detoxification protocols

Requirements:
● Michigan licensed LPN
● Addiction Experience is preferred
