Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Three or more years of experience in transportation dispatching, logistics, fleet coordination, route planning, or distribution operations preferred.
3. Experience dispatching commercial drivers and multiple vehicle types preferred.
4. Experience in industrial gases, cryogenic liquids, compressed gases, hazardous materials, fuel distribution, chemical distribution, or a similar industry strongly preferred.
5. Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, commercial-driver requirements, and hazardous-material transportation requirements.
6. Strong geographic, route-planning, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to manage local and long-haul routes simultaneously.
8. Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
10. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
11. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, dispatching software, GPS systems, telematics platforms, and electronic order-management systems.
12. Ability to work effectively with drivers, customers, suppliers, sales personnel, operations personnel, and management.
13. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and dispatch daily local cylinder, welding-supply, and bulk cryogenic delivery routes.
- Assign drivers, tractors, straight trucks, cylinder trailers, cryogenic transports, and other equipment.
- Coordinate bulk-product pickups from suppliers, plants, and terminals.
- Monitor route progress, driver availability, Hours of Service, delivery status, and equipment location.
- Develop efficient routes that reduce mileage, empty miles, fuel costs, overtime, and delivery delays.
- Respond to emergency orders, low-tank alarms, customer schedule changes, breakdowns, weather, and road delays.
- Provide drivers with complete delivery instructions, manifests, bills of lading, hazardous-material paperwork, and customer requirements.
- Communicate delivery updates and service issues to customers, sales, operations, and management.
- Coordinate vehicle and trailer repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance with the maintenance team.
- Review driver paperwork, mileage, fuel usage, route exceptions, delivery discrepancies, and telematics events.
- Ensure transportation activities comply with company safety policies and applicable DOT, FMCSA, Hours-of-Service, and hazardous-material requirements.
- Track company-owned cylinders, liquid containers, trailers, and other distribution assets using company systems.
Schedule:
This is a full-time position. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and participation in an after-hours on-call rotation may be required based on customer and distribution needs.
