The Procurement Sr. Specialist (CAPEX Construction Category), through theme development, strategic management, and stakeholder alignment, is responsible for bringing spend within their category under procurement management. The Specialist will regularly engage with the business stakeholder community, establish and lead strategies to achieve optimal cost reduction, and ensure the effective management of supplier relationships and risk specific to construction, facilities, capital projects, and related services. This role supports facilities construction projects including greenfield and brownfield developments, as well as infrastructure, structural, and equipment upgrades.
This position is directly responsible for owning the relationships with key site and business unit leadership. Also is responsible for the development / implementation of sourcing strategies and collaboration with internal business partners and suppliers to reduce risks and costs for Honda within construction and capital project activities. The Specialist is accountable to identify, set, and manage metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery for contractors, subcontractors, and service providers. This position will drive results through the creation and management of competitive bidding processes and analyzation of data and market trends related to the construction industry, labor, materials, schedule, and project execution. Also actively drives the continuous improvement of regional Procurement processes and tools and is responsible for long term planning for the category, creating/driving/implementing initiatives, communicating and influencing customers and suppliers at all levels supporting construction, equipment and facility-related procurement objectives.
The Specialist must work collaboratively, exhibit a strong sense of urgency to meet customer timelines, exhibit an intense curiosity/learning drive, successfully operate in a fast-paced environment, engage/influence key stakeholders, be extremely customer-focused, and consistently display a high level of business acumen. Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects, as well as timely completion to meet the business’ objectives in a construction and equipment project environment with multiple stakeholders, timelines, locations and project phases.
