Loudoun Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a customer-oriented and high-performing individual to fill an Information Technology Specialist position in Waterford, VA. The Information Technology Specialist will be responsible for performing various tasks related to day-to-day technical support and assistance with the Company's computer networks and systems. This includes identification and investigation of user and vendor issues, as related to both computer software and hardware; application of gained knowledge for research, problem-solving, and interdepartmental collaboration; repair and replacement of defective products; and system administration partnership for network modification.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) Provides technical support—identifying, investigating, and resolving users’ problems with computer software and hardware—for problems specific to the organization’s computer networks and systems.
2) Applies knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures to solve problems.
3) Collaborates with interdepartmental staff to research and resolve problems.
4) Arranges service by software or hardware vendors to repair or replace defective products.
5) Partners with systems administrators to explain errors and/or recommend modifications to systems and networks.
6) Maintains knowledge of technology innovations and trends.
7) Ensures proper documentation and maintenance of all internal and external correspondence, confidential information, and PPI in accordance with Company guidelines.
8) Participates in regular, job-relevant training opportunities to maintain necessary skills.
9) Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including company agency partners.
10) Communicates promptly, professionally, and effectively across all methods.
11) Participates in company staff meetings, trainings, and events as required.
12) Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Help-desk/customer service experience and PC Server diagnostics/troubleshooting required.
- Working knowledge of Windows applications in a Windows environment, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software required.
- Excellent verbal and written English language communication skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
- Ability to explain technical issues to both technical and nontechnical staff and customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Superior understanding of computer and networking hardware and software systems preferred.
- Excellent time management skills required.
- Valid driver’s license issued in home residence state.
- Proficient with, or the ability to quickly learn, a broad array of networking and systems hardware and software.
- Performs tasks requiring independent knowledge in addition to procedures and instructions.
- Demonstrates independent judgment and discretion, including the proven ability to maintain client confidence and properly protect operations through the secure handling of sensitive and confidential information.
