EXTRA-DUTY DRIVER EDUCATION TEACHER
Position: Extra-Duty Driver Education Teacher
Contract Length: 90 Days
Work Schedule: Not to exceed two (2) hours per day

Salary: Hourly Rate of Pay
Salary: According to the Boone County Schools approved salary schedule and/or established extra-duty rate.
Qualifications

Must hold a valid West Virginia teaching certificate with the appropriate Driver Education certification/endorsement.

Must meet all West Virginia Department of Education requirements for providing Driver Education instruction.

Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Must demonstrate the ability to provide safe, effective classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction to students.

Must possess effective communication, organizational, and student-management skills.

Must meet all other requirements established by Boone County Schools and applicable state law, policy, and regulation.
Job Goal
To provide students with effective Driver Education instruction that develops the knowledge, skills, judgment, and safe-driving practices necessary to operate a motor vehicle responsibly.
Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Driver Education instruction in accordance with West Virginia Department of Education requirements and the approved Driver Education curriculum.

Provide classroom and/or behind-the-wheel instruction as assigned.

Teach and reinforce safe driving practices, defensive driving techniques, traffic laws, vehicle operation, and responsible decision-making.

Provide students with supervised driving experiences appropriate to their level of skill and experience.

Maintain a safe instructional environment at all times.

Inspect the Driver Education vehicle and report safety, maintenance, or mechanical concerns to the appropriate administrator.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, instructional time, driving hours, progress, and other documentation required by the school district or state.

Evaluate student performance and provide appropriate feedback regarding driving skills and areas needing improvement.

Ensure that students meet applicable instructional requirements before successful completion of the Driver Education program.

Communicate with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and other school personnel as appropriate.

Follow all Boone County Schools policies, procedures, safety requirements, and administrative directives.

Perform other duties directly related to the Driver Education program as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Terms of Employment
This is a 90-day extra-duty contract. The employee shall work no more than two (2) hours per day under this assignment. Work days and hours will be established based upon student participation, program needs, and administrative scheduling.
The employee must maintain the required Driver Education certification/endorsement throughout the duration of the assignment.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with applicable Boone County Schools policies and procedures.
