Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Intensive In-Home Counselor - Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to provide comprehensive behavioral health services within clients’ homes and community settings. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify individual needs, strengths, and treatment goals using clinical documentation standards and diagnostic evaluation tools.
- Deliver evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), art therapy, and crisis intervention tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
- Implement behavior management strategies and crisis management techniques to ensure client safety and promote positive behavioral outcomes.
- Engage with clients and their families through individual and group counseling sessions, providing guidance on social skills, emotional regulation, and family dynamics.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring timely documentation of all clinical interactions and progress notes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts, develop treatment plans, and facilitate seamless home & community care experiences.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to foster client motivation for change and support long-term recovery or development goals.
Requirements
- Valid QMHP certification or equivalent licensure demonstrating qualification for mental health counseling roles.
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or mental health conditions like PTSD.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health practices including behavioral therapy, social work principles, crisis management, and conflict management skills.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, medical documentation standards, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Experience in home-based behavioral interventions and home & community care environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with children, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently while applying trauma-informed care principles.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
