POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides meals for the children in the preschool program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for the day to day operation of the food service and nutrition program. Follow State and Licensing guidelines and standards related to children’s nutrition and food at all times.
2. Inventory control with reference to daily food usage as well as standard supplies.
3. Typing of required documents including but not limited to menus, meal production sheets and inventory forms. Maintain updated and accurate records of all State and Licensing forms and required documentation at all times.
4. Purchasing of food and kitchen supplies within the established budget guidelines.
5. Maintain all kitchen areas, materials, food and appliances clean, orderly and in good working condition.
6. Participate in all program events/meetings and seminars as required by supervisor.
7. Facilitate the sites with health and nutrition curriculum planning and seminars/meetings on healthy eating habits.
8. Use and be familiar with computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software in performing work assignment.
9. Model and promote positive behavior, attitude and language with YMCA staff.
10. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other YMCA functions as required by Supervisor.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Meets licensing qualifications a preschool cook.
2. At least 18 years of age.
3. Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), First Aid.
4. Child Abuse prevention training.
5. Previous experience working in a kitchen setting/cooking preferred.
6. Ability to plan, organize and prepare meals.
7. Previous experience with diverse populations. Understands the YMCA is a public accommodation committed to inclusion
Pay: $14.50 - $15.00 per hour
