Maintenance Mechanic
Position Hours: 6:00a-2:30p (overtime as required)
Essential Functions:
· Perform all custodial job responsibilities.
· Assist with seasonal jobs: shovel snow; pick up litter, branches, rocks outside, window cleaning etc.
· Perform routine daily and weekly preventative maintenance such as inspecting, cleaning, adjusting and lubricating production equipment.
· Completes basic repair of production equipment. Removes, re-installs and diagnoses potential machine problems.
· Consult with other maintenance personnel for questions regarding maintenance or equipment.
· Read and follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the course of performing duties.
· Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the duties performed in this position.
· Work at speed required to maintain proper production flow and on time delivery to internal customers.
· Respond quickly/correctly when quality problems are identified and/or involve others as needed.
· Close work orders with proper documentation.
· Write purchase requests.
· Communicate relevant information positively and effectively to others in timely manner.
· Read and follow safety procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out protocol, PPE, safety guards and shields and other safety procedures.
Required Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and a mechanical aptitude
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
·· Ability to use various mechanical equipment and understand machine theory and operating systems/functions.
· Ability to identify needed repairs on equipment to make suitable for production use.
· Work with others as part of a team
· Accurately use measuring devices such as tape measures, voltage meters, calipers and other measuring devices
· Ability to perform basic math functions
· Ability to troubleshoot.
· Ability to make decisions within a set of guidelines
· Ability to read and understand required internal paperwork
· Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines
· Effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills
· Ability to accurately enter and verify information in computer programs used in Maintenance.
· Knowledge of quality criteria with attention to detail and recognition of discrepancies.
· Awareness of OSHA and MPCA regulations.
