About Catalyst Training Gyms
Catalyst is Southbury CT's coaching-focused fitness facility built specifically for adults over 40. We deliver structured, intelligent, and sustainable strength training designed to help our members stay strong, capable, and confident for life.
We are a coaching-first organization — no open gym chaos, no sales quotas, no random workouts. Every session is intentional, coached, and held to a high standard.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Coaching Manager who leads from the floor and protects the quality of our training experience. This is a hybrid role:
- 40–50% of your time coaching private and small group sessions — modeling behavior, maintaining credibility, and staying connected to the client experience
- 50–60% of your time on leadership and management — audits, coach development, performance management, documentation, reporting, and cross-role coordination
This is not a sales role and not a "head trainer" title. This is a leadership position for a coach who values standards and structure.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Floor Leadership
- Deliver high-quality private and small group sessions for adults 40+
- Model professional coaching standards on the floor
- Demonstrate proper session flow, cueing, and client engagement
- Serve as the on-floor standard for energy, professionalism, and safety
Coaching Team Leadership & Development
- Observe sessions weekly and provide structured feedback to all coaches
- Conduct session quality audits
- Manage coach performance through weekly touchpoints, monthly trend reviews, and quarterly formal reviews
- Lead the coaching hiring pipeline — screen candidates, conduct interviews, run the coaching internship, evaluate cohorts, and make hire decisions
- Own the corrective action process through termination recommendations when coaches do not meet or maintain standards
Programming Oversight
- Ensure centralized programming is followed as written
- Allow intelligent individual modifications when client needs require it
- Prevent off-program freelancing
- Escalate program-fit issues to Ownership
Operations & Reporting
- Collaborate with the Experience Manager on scheduling and coverage
- Lead weekly coaches meetings and manage the workout rotation workflow
- Submit the coaching section of the Weekly Operating Report to Ownership
- Surface risks and opportunities early

- Not responsible for billing or contracts
