Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring thorough removal of plaque and tartar.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health.
- Assist during dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to uphold the highest standards of healthcare infection control.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental software systems like Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation review and patient record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices, including working with children in a compassionate and engaging manner.
- Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment and supporting dentists during procedures.
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse as part of patient assessment routines.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards aligned with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about their dental care needs while fostering trust and comfort.
