Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support clinical staff by preparing patients for examinations or procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Administer medications under supervision, document medication administration precisely in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Assist with patient transfers using appropriate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs while practicing safe lifting practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various settings—including long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU and trauma centers), outpatient clinics, and home care—to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state requirements.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers), long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home health settings.
- Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology principles, and basic life support (BLS/CPR).
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper body mechanics; experience with manual handling equipment is preferred.
- Prior experience caring for geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities—including dementia or behavioral health needs—is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with healthcare teams and provide compassionate patient service across pediatric to senior populations.
