Pet Care Operations AssociatePosition Summary
Paradise Pet Hotel & Day Spa is seeking dependable, hardworking, and compassionate individuals to join our team as Pet Care Operations Associates.
This is a cross-trained position that works throughout the back kennel, doggy daycare, bathing room, and front desk. Employees must be willing and able to assist in each department based on staffing, pet occupancy, appointments, and the daily needs of the business.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with both animals and people, communicates well, stays organized in a fast-paced environment, and is willing to help wherever needed. This is an active, hands-on position that requires attention to detail, strong teamwork, and a commitment to keeping every pet safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
Back Kennel, Doggy Daycare, and Pet Care Responsibilities
- Provide safe, attentive, and compassionate care to boarding and daycare pets.
- Supervise groups of dogs in doggy daycare while maintaining a safe, controlled, and positive environment.
- Work with dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, energy levels, and temperaments.
- Actively monitor daycare groups for stress, overstimulation, unsafe behavior, illness, injury, or potential conflicts.
- Use proper dog-handling and group-management techniques to redirect inappropriate behavior and prevent unsafe situations.
- Follow procedures for safely introducing, moving, separating, and removing dogs from daycare groups.
- Keep daycare rooms, outdoor play areas, water bowls, equipment, and common areas clean and sanitary throughout the day.
- Clean up pet waste and accidents immediately to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
- Ensure dogs have access to fresh drinking water and appropriate rest periods.
- Immediately report fights, injuries, illnesses, behavioral concerns, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
- Feed pets according to their individual feeding instructions.
- Administer medications as directed and accurately document completion.
- Take dogs outside for bathroom breaks, walks, exercise, and supervised play.
- Monitor pets for changes in behavior, appetite, health, or physical condition.
- Clean and sanitize runs, crates, dishes, bedding, play areas, and common spaces.
- Maintain accurate run cards, feeding sheets, medication records, daycare notes, and other required documentation.
- Assist with safely moving pets throughout the facility.
- Follow all animal-handling, cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Bathing Room Responsibilities
- Bathe and dry dogs according to scheduled services and client instructions.
- Brush dogs and assist with basic services such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and nail filing when trained and assigned.
- Use the correct shampoos and products for each pet.
- Follow instructions for specialty, medicated, or client-provided shampoos.
- Check pets for skin irritation, lumps, injuries, fleas, ticks, or other concerns and report findings to a supervisor.
- Handle pets patiently and safely throughout the bathing and drying process.
- Monitor pets carefully while they are in tubs, kennels, or drying areas.
- Prepare pets for departure and confirm that all requested services have been completed.
- Accurately document completed services and communicate important information to the front desk.
- Keep tubs, kennels, tables, drying areas, equipment, tools, and floors clean and sanitized.
- Restock supplies and maintain a clean, organized, and safe bathing room.
Front Desk and Guest Services Responsibilities
- Greet clients in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Assist with boarding, daycare, grooming, and bathing check-ins and check-outs.
- Answer phone calls and respond to client questions accurately and professionally.
- Explain facility services, policies, pricing, and procedures.
- Review feeding instructions, medications, belongings, requested services, and pickup information with clients.
- Schedule boarding reservations, daycare visits, grooming appointments, and bathing services.
- Maintain accurate client and pet information in the facility’s computer system.
- Process payments and provide receipts.
- Communicate important information to the kennel, daycare, bathing, grooming, and management teams.
- Contact clients regarding questions, completed services, concerns, or changes involving their pets.
- Keep the lobby, front desk, and client-facing areas clean and organized.
- Maintain client confidentiality and protect sensitive customer and business information.
General Responsibilities and Expectations
- Be willing and able to work in the kennel, doggy daycare, bathing room, and front desk.
- Arrive on time and be ready to begin working at the scheduled start time.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, cleaning standards, and animal-care protocols.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and management.
- Work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Stay productive and assist other departments during slower periods.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Complete opening, closing, cleaning, laundry, and general facility duties as assigned.
- Participate in required training, meetings, and continuing education.
- Perform additional duties based on the needs of the business and as assigned by management.
Available Schedules
Applicants must be available to consistently work one of the following set schedules.
Early-Morning Schedule — Two Openings Available
- Monday: 5:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Tuesday: 5:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Wednesday: Off
- Thursday: 5:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Friday: 5:00 AM–1:00 PM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM–10:00 or 11:00 AM, depending on business needs
- Sunday: Off
Daytime Schedule
- Monday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Tuesday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Wednesday: Off
- Thursday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Friday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Sunday: Off
The daytime schedule includes a one-hour unpaid break each working day.
These are set schedules. Applicants must be dependable and able to consistently report to work at the scheduled start time. Some flexibility may be needed during holidays, peak boarding periods, or other high-volume times.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care, doggy daycare, boarding, bathing, grooming, veterinary care, or customer service is preferred but not required.
- Must be comfortable working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments.
- Must be comfortable supervising and safely managing groups of dogs.
- Must be comfortable handling pet food, medications, animal waste, bodily fluids, and cleaning chemicals.
- Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy, loud, and physically active environment.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer and point-of-sale experience is preferred.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and willing to work across multiple departments.
- Must be able to consistently work the selected schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, kneel, squat, reach, and move throughout the facility.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to handle, restrain, and maintain control of strong or energetic dogs.
- Ability to work in loud, wet, humid, and physically demanding environments.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to pet hair, dander, cleaning products, animal waste, and animal-related odors.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions.
