Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments using proper infection control procedures aligned with dental sterilization standards.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including chairside support for restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric treatments.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, and collecting vital signs to ensure accurate medical documentation.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support patient management by explaining procedures, answering questions about oral health, and ensuring a comfortable experience.
- Follow strict infection prevention management protocols to uphold aseptic techniques and ensure dental equipment is properly sterilized and maintained.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments using patient management software and coordinating with the dental reception team for smooth clinic operations.
- Ensure all dental instruments are processed efficiently according to infection control standards, including proper cleaning, sterilization, and storage procedures.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate eager to learn.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft enhances efficiency in managing patient records and documentation.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures is highly beneficial for supporting clinical teams effectively.
- Experience with dental X-ray techniques, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology, is advantageous.
- Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices ensures compliance with safety standards.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray safety is a plus but can be obtained during training if not already held.
