Andrew Pearce Bowls is the largest hand-turned wooden bowl manufacturer in the world, producing high-quality, heirloom wood products. We are hiring a Sawmill & Coring Technician to support our production team working with incoming logs, sawmill equipment, bandsaws, and rough coring operations.
This role is hands-on, skill-based, and offers clear progression through multiple levels, including advancement to Level III for strong performers. We will train the right person.
Level I – Sawmill & Coring Technician
Pay Range: $18.75–$20.75/hr
What you’ll do:
- Assist with log handling and material staging
- Support sawmill and bandsaw operations
- Prepare bowl blanks for rough turning and coring
- Perform basic rough turning under supervision
- Learn grain orientation, defect identification, and blank layout
- Maintain a clean, safe work area

Level II – Sawmill & Coring Technician
Pay Range: $20.75–$23.75/hr
What you’ll do:
- Independently operate sawmill and bandsaw equipment
- Produce consistent, high-quality bowl blanks
- Perform rough coring accurately and efficiently
- Understand wall thickness, balance, and moisture considerations
- Identify defects and optimize yield from logs
- Support production flow and quality expectations

- Understand wood movement, grain, and moisture basics

Growth & Progression

Schedule

Experience
- Prior experience in manufacturing, machining, or woodworking is preferred
- Familiarity with millwork, carpentry, or construction is a plus
- Experience operating forklifts and warehouse equipment is desirable
- Hands-on knowledge of hand tools, power tools, calipers, and CNC machinery is beneficial
- Previous work involving woodworking or sawmill operations will be considered an asset
