Job Title: Transportation Safety Manager
Reports To: President of JBS Trucking

Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and organized Transportation Safety Manager to lead our team. This role will focus on developing, executing, and optimizing driver safety strategies to retain high-quality drivers while fostering their professional growth. The ideal candidate has a strong transportation safety background, excellent leadership, communication, and relationship building skills, and a passion for scaling safety and training programs in a dynamic environment.
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs, policies, and procedures. This includes ensuring compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, promoting a culture of safety, managing incident investigations, and leading safety training for drivers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations (FMCSA, DOT, OSHA).
· Maintain and manage DOT compliance records, including driver qualification files, hours of service logs, drug and alcohol testing programs, and maintenance files.
· Monitor driver performance using telematics, ELD data, and safety reports; coach and counsel drivers on safe practices.
· Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
· Manage license and permitting on all trucks and trailers.
· Manage monthly insurance reporting and any additional insurance requirements.
· Coordinate and manage drug and alcohol testing programs per DOT guidelines.
· Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to ensure safety protocols are integrated into daily workflow.
· Keep abreast of new regulations and industry trends; advise management of necessary changes.
· Manage CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability) scores and implement strategies to improve safety metrics.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a safety/compliance role within the trucking or transportation industry.
· In-depth knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Experience with ELD systems (e.g., Samsara, KeepTruckin, Omnitracs) and safety reporting tools.
· Ability to train and engage drivers and staff in safety practices.
· Prior management experience is strongly preferred.
· The ability to adapt, adjust, conquer, and overcome.
Preferred Qualifications/Certifications:
· Proven track record of building and scaling Safety and training programs.
· Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $101,000.00 per year
