## About Us
Coal Mountain Eye Care is a private, independent optometry practice in Cumming, GA, focused on personalized, high-quality eye care for our community. We're growing and looking to add a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to our clinical team.
## About the Role
We're hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to support our optometrist chairside and help patients move smoothly through their visit. This is a hands-on clinical role — no certification required, we will train the right person. Prior ophthalmic, medical assisting, or healthcare experience is a plus but not mandatory. What matters most is reliability, a calm and friendly manner with patients, and a willingness to learn.
You'll also get cross-trained on our optical and front-desk operations, so you can step in and support those areas when needed — but your primary role is clinical/chairside support.
## What You'll Do
- Conduct patient pretesting: autorefraction, tonometry (eye pressure), visual fields, OCT/topography imaging
- Take patient health history and prepare patients for their exam
- Assist the doctor chairside during exams (scribing, equipment setup, minor procedure assistance)
- Support bandage contact lens fittings and other in-office procedures
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment between patients
- Cross-train on optical dispensing and front-desk check-in/checkout to provide backup coverage as needed
- Help create a warm, efficient patient experience from check-in to checkout
## What We're Looking For
- No certification required — we'll train you on all clinical skills
- COA/COT certification or prior ophthalmic technician experience is a plus, not required
- Comfortable with computers and learning new software (we use RevolutionEHR)
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with patients, including children and older adults
- Dependable, on time, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Team player willing to pitch in wherever needed
