A locally owned and operated waste management company is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Bittinger, MD to maintain and repair its fleet of heavy-duty trucks. Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, and Dodge trucks.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel, mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and testing procedures.
- Complete major repairs, including engine and transmission replacements.
- Inspect and test completed work to confirm trucks are safe, reliable, and ready for service.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance schedules, and parts-usage documentation.
- Work with drivers and operations leadership to identify performance issues, prioritize repairs, and maintain a clean, safe shop.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks.
- Strong diesel, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, preventive maintenance, and diagnostic experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot fleet issues and use hand tools, diagnostic tools, and testing procedures company tools are supplied.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, communication, teamwork, and attention to detail, with a commitment to safe work practices.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, communicate effectively in English, and work in shop and outdoor conditions involving noise, dust, temperature changes, and moving equipment.
- Experience maintaining and repairing refuse, sanitation, or similar fleet vehicles.
