Step-In Autism Services of Alaska, L.L.C. offers quality Applied Behavior Analysis programming to clients in the Fairbanks and surrounding areas. Many of our clients are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, however we offer services to a variety of individuals. We are currently looking for compassionate and talented individuals experienced in working with children with disabilities. Step-In Autism Services of Alaska behavioral technicians work one-on-one in center, home, school, and social settings with children, implementing the Behavior Support Plan designed and maintained by a BCBA or BCaBA. ABA behavioral technicians gather quantifiable behavioral data necessary for evaluating the Behavior Support Plan.
Pay:
Starting pay without RBT credential is $21.75/hr. Once the RBT credential has been obtained, pay is $26.50-$30.50/hr. plus a tiered bonus system.
This position provides paid training to assist with obtaining the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification. Until the RBT certification is received, the employee will be in Training with the following job responsibilities:
- Implement feedback received during live and/or remote supervision and from written evaluations
- Provide backup support to Behavior Technicians and Board Certified Behavior Analysts
- Provide and implement ABA programming with direct supervision
- Collect data during sessions
- Prepare materials as directed
- Attend client staffing and ongoing trainings
- Satisfactorily pass treatment integrity checks and ongoing evaluations
- Cleaning and maintenance of program area and materials
- React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Hazard recognition and response
- Other duties as assigned
Once the RBT Certification is obtained, the job responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide and implement ABA programming with supervision
- Collect data during sessions
- Report test results by interpreting, analyzing, and documenting data
- Provide individual interventions by implementing and monitoring the ABA intervention plan
- Implement treatment protocols established to suit the needs of the client
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities: reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and/or participating in professional organizations
- Attend client team meetings and ongoing trainings
- Implement feedback received during live and/or remote supervision and from written evaluations
- Satisfactorily pass treatment integrity checks and ongoing evaluations
- Cleaning and maintenance of program area and materials
- Prepare materials as directed
- React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
- Hazard recognition and response
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Valid AK Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Reliable transportation; this job may require travel between clients
- Pass Criminal Background Check
- Pass TB Test
- Three Professional References
- Must have a passion for working with children
Preferred:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Human Development or related fields
- ABA Experience
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- 1 year of experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Step-in Autism Services will train in these areas):
- RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) registration (included in the initial training period, the incumbent must achieve designation within three months of hire date)
- HIPAA
- Mandated reporting, problem solving and conflict management related to employment

- Basic ABA procedures such as reinforcement, shaping, prompting, etc.
Initial Competency Demonstration:
- Correctly respond to written and oral scenarios
- Demonstrate ability to correctly respond to treatment protocols as evidenced by direct observation and written evaluation.
Supervision:
- ABA behavioral technician shall receive frequent observation and feedback during initial employment period, when being assigned a new client, and when working with severe problem behavior
- Ongoing observation, training and supervision to maintain and improve the Behavioral Technician’s skills
- Supervision may include video recording and/or remote technologies
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; able to quickly move arms, legs, head, and body out of harm’s way; must be able to see; and lift up to 25 pounds.
