Position Summary
As our Pet Groomer, you'll provide exceptional grooming services that help pets look and feel their very best. You'll perform professional grooming while working closely with our veterinary team to ensure every pet is healthy and safe before their appointment. You will earn 50% commission and hourly wage for team meetings and trainings.
What You'll Do
- Perform complete professional grooms, including:
- Bathing, conditioning, drying, brushing, and de-matting
- Haircuts and breed-standard styling
- Nail trimming and grinding
- Ear cleaning and teeth brushing when appropriate
- Specialty grooming services
- Conduct a thorough hands-on check-in and check-out for every pet.
- Verify pets are current on required vaccinations and perform a pre-groom wellness assessment to identify any medical concerns before grooming.
- Recognize and report abnormalities such as skin conditions, ear infections, dental disease, lumps, parasites, injuries, or other health concerns to the veterinary team and pet owners.
- Safely handle pets of all sizes and temperaments using low-stress handling techniques.
- Communicate professionally with pet parents in person and by phone regarding grooming recommendations and home care.
- Recommend grooming products and maintenance schedules to support pet wellness.
- Rebook appointments to encourage routine grooming and preventative care.
- Maintain grooming tools and equipment in excellent working conditions.
- Keep the grooming suite clean, organized, and sanitized.
- Treat every pet and client with kindness, compassion, and respect.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of professional pet grooming experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of breed-standard grooming styles.
- Excellent scissoring, clipping, styling, and finishing skills.
- Strong understanding of animal behavior and safe handling techniques.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with our veterinary team.
- Passion for providing compassionate, high-quality care.
Physical Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working with dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
- Comfortable working around pet hair and dander.
