North Dakota HHS Vital Records unit is looking for a Request Team Member located in Bismarck, North Dakota.
As our Request Team Member, you will help individuals obtain vital records by guiding them through the request process and providing the appropriate forms and documentation. You will process requests for certified copies of birth, death, and fetal death records that are submitted in person, by mail, or through the division's online application system. In this role, you will communicate with a wide variety of people across multiple platforms while providing professional and responsive customer service.
You will answer incoming phone calls, direct callers to the appropriate staff member, and assist with records requests. You will also process web rush orders, coordinate shipping through FedEx or UPS, and handle returned or undeliverable mail requests. In addition, you will review incoming mail to determine routing, verify that required documentation and fees are included, and use the Vital Records Index receipting system to track mail requests accurately.
To succeed in this position, you should be able to prioritize tasks, transition between responsibilities efficiently, and return to previous assignments with ease. You should be comfortable learning new processes quickly while maintaining a strong attention to detail and a willingness to continue developing your skills. This position supports a fast-paced and steady workflow where the work is repetitive but engaging, helping each day move quickly.
You should also be comfortable working with the public and adapting your communication style to meet the needs of each individual while delivering excellent customer service. A strong team-centered approach is important, as you will work closely with team members and provide support with search requests, receipting, and scanning when needed.
To be considered for this position, you are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)

ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position will be in office in Bismarck, North Dakota.
