As Structural Engineering Director, you’ll provide visionary leadership for the Structural Department—guiding technical operations, mentoring staff, and driving strategic growth across key infrastructure markets.

Lead all operational and strategic functions of the Structural Engineering Department.

Direct, supervise, and mentor structural engineering teams to ensure technical excellence and professional development.

Collaborate with other department directors and leadership on firmwide initiatives and cross-discipline projects.

Oversee design, specifications, and cost estimates for bridges, retaining walls, and transportation-related structures.

Review and approve Bridge Condition Reports, Type-Size-Location (TSL) plans, and construction documents.

Ensure quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) across all structural projects and inspections.

Cultivate client relationships and identify opportunities for business development and market expansion.

Contribute to corporate strategy, budgeting, and departmental planning as part of the leadership team.

Promote innovative design approaches and maintain compliance with state and federal standards.

Represent the firm at professional associations, client meetings, and public agency events.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

15+ years of structural engineering experience, including 5+ years in a senior or director-level role.

Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) license required; multi-state licensure a plus.

Illinois Team Leader Certification for NBIS bridge inspections preferred.

In-depth experience with IDOT and Illinois Tollway standards and project delivery processes.
