SDS2 Steel Detailer / Detailing Coordinator (Remote – U.S.)

Black Dot Steel is seeking an experienced SDS2 Steel Detailer / Detailing Coordinator to manage structural steel detailing, coordinate outsourced detailing resources, and support successful fabrication and erection of commercial and industrial projects.
This is a full-time remote position for candidates located within the United States.
Compensation
$25-$35/hr
Compensation is based on experience, SDS2 proficiency, project coordination capabilities, and experience with U.S. structural steel projects.
Responsibilities
- Produce structural and miscellaneous steel shop drawings using SDS2
- Review structural drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Generate and track RFIs
- Coordinate and manage outsourced detailing firms
- Perform QA/QC reviews of detailing deliverables
- Maintain drawing revisions and document control
- Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, engineers, and field personnel
- Ensure detailing deliverables meet project requirements and Black Dot Steel standards
Qualifications
- 5+ years of structural steel detailing experience
- Strong SDS2 proficiency
- Experience with U.S. structural steel fabrication projects
- Working knowledge of AISC detailing standards
- Ability to interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred
- Experience managing outsourced detailers
- Fabrication shop experience
- Bluebeam experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and Trello
Schedule Expectations
- Daily Teams check-in at 7:30 AM CST
- Weekly Teams meeting on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM CST
- Regular availability during Central Time business hours
