Position Summary
ORG Services is seeking a dependable cannabis Laboratory Technician to join the Affinity Grow team. This entry-level role is responsible for supporting daily operations within a cannabis manufacturing laboratory. Key duties include material preparation, extraction, and post-processing activities, with a strong focus on maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while adhering to standard operating procedures and receiving direction from laboratory leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of cannabis biomass for extraction (e.g., weighing, grinding, loading)
- Support extraction processes under supervision (e.g., CO₂, ethanol, hydrocarbon)
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate laboratory equipment and production areas in accordance with SOPs
- Handle post-extraction processes such as filtration, or decarboxylation
- Follow all safety protocols and regulatory procedures (e.g., METRC compliance)
- Label and track products through each stage of manufacturing
- Assist with inventory tracking and supply restocking
- Ensure all production activities comply with cGMP standards and applicable state cannabis regulations
- Identify and communicate process deviations, equipment issues, or quality concerns to the Laboratory Manager
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within laboratory operations
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Competencies
- Prior relevant hands-on experience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing strongly preferred
- Basic working knowledge of extraction techniques and solvent recovery systems
- Understanding of cGMP standards and state-specific cannabis compliance requirements
- Strong technical documentation and record keeping skills
- Ability to accurately follow written SOPs and execute detailed procedures
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in controlled laboratory environments with varying temperature, lighting, and humidity conditions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, PPE usage, and gowning protocols
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a production-driven environment with daily output targets
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Must meet all legal and company-specific requirements to work in the cannabis industry
- Must pass a criminal background check if required by state regulations
- Reliable transportation required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, reaching, and lifting
- Comfortable working at heights and using ladders on an occasional basis
- Ability to work a full-time schedule, including occasional overtime as needed
