Responsibilities and Duties:
As the Assistant Hazmat Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the Area Hazmat Manager and Regional Manager with building and maintaining a winning team to respond 24/7/365. This includes hiring, managing, disciplining, and training the team members as needed. Additionally, as an emergency response company, you will be responsible for ensuring that we maintain an available team at all times. This ranges from supervisors to laborers. A successful assistant manager will be responsible for:
- Assisting in hiring and firing within the region.
- Maintaining availability of response team.
- Ensuring coverage is always maintained 24/7/365.
- Ensuring that the team is properly trained in all company policy and procedure.
- Ensuring that safety is the number one priority in all operations.
- Ensure we are providing high level customer services to our clients
- Ensuring that response equipment is in a constant state of response readiness.
- Ensuring that all projects are properly managed safely, effectively and within the protocols of First Call Environmental.
- Providing strong leadership to your team.
Qualifications and Skills:
- This position requires 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER & Confined Space certification
- 3 - 5 years of emergency services experience with at least 2 in a leadership capacity is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years hazmat response experience is preferred
- CDL B license is preferred
Our requirements are:
- Valid driver's license with low/no points.
- Ability to attain a DOT Medical Card (must be able to pass the physical and drug test)
- Reliable transportation to and from designated job location.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to work in adverse conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to utilize electronic devices such as smart phone, tablet and computer.
- Ability to drive and safely operate heavy duty pickup truck with enclosed trailer or a box truck.
- Ability to navigate based on GPS or printed map.
- Ability to complete assigned task quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to follow basic directions.
- Willingness to lead a team.
- Ability to effectively delegate to ensure the smooth functioning of the team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
