SUMMARY: This position is Medical Services staff position reporting to the Nurse Manager. This person is responsible for providing supervised health services, record keeping for compliance with third-party payers, and client assistance as directed by the Nurse Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/DEGREE: Must have graduated from a two year clinical program with a Certified Medical Assistant(CMA) and an Associate’s Degree. At least two year’s experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

SUPERVISED BY: Nurse Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Under the supervision of a physician, performs medical assistance procedures including medication education and management; somatic treatment; dispensing and administering prescribed medications; monitoring medication side effects; constructing medical charts; giving injections; and case management services.
2. Escorts patients to exam room; interviews patients; measures vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.
3. Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician.
4. Ensures all related reports and information are available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointments.
5. Maintains adequate medical supplies, instruments, and sterilization products.
6. Takes telephone messages and provides feedback and answers to patients, physicians, pharmacies.
7. Triages and processes messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and medical staff.
8. Provides consultation with the attending physicians; assists patient with access to other treatment resources; and serves as liaison with the medical community as directed by the physician.
9. Performs necessary record keeping functions.
10. Fully ensures timely, thorough, and accurate submission of required paper and electronic record of clients medicine training and support.
11. Enrolls clients in third party payer sources as directed or required by regulation.
12. Complies with the Swanson Center Code of Conduct and the Swanson Center Code of Ethics.
13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, mean, mode and median, ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
