We are looking for a Barista/Server to prepare and serve beverages and food.
Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items and taking orders.
Food Prep/Cook responsibilities include making soup of the day, slicing/portioning meats for sandwiches, making simple sandwich/salads for customer orders, prepping food for the lunch rush.
To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills, ability to quickly learn and be able to work 8 hours on your feet in a fast pace work environment. You should be able to work various shifts including at least 2 Saturdays a month.
Note: this position’s compensation includes base rate and tips. Base rate is $9hr and tips are a minimum of $3 an hour and average $4-$5 an hour
Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent dining experience for our guests.
Some responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Greet customers as they enter
- Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
- Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
- Prepare beverages or food items following recipes
- Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Keep the bar area clean
- Work with your coworkers with a team mindset
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
Skills
- Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Basic math skills
- Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
- Excellent communication skills
- High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Base Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
